AN/Warnings: Takes place during Runaway Bride and post-JE

This was a bit odd to write, with some sort of future-past tense bookended by the present, but I think it kinda works.

Written for doctor_donna Weekly Drabble Challenge #13. Prompt was "white".

"You'd better come back," she tells him in the lower basement of H.C. Clements

"Couldn't get rid of you if I tried," he quips back.

He had no idea how true that would be. He had no idea that in the years to come, how often he would fondly recollect the memories of his Donna in her beautiful white dress.

He didn't know that he would savour those memories, clinging to them as long as possible before he would be forced to remember that she wasn't with him now. That no one was with him now.

He couldn't see the days ahead that would be spent wandering the corridors of the TARDIS, every now and again being tricked into thinking he saw a glimpse of her fiery ginger locks around a corner, only to find nothing but a shiny trinket.

There was no way for him to know how deep she would be ingrained in his hearts, how much pain he would feel when he had to leave her for good.

For now, all he knows is that someone is up to something involving Torchwood's secret basement, Huon particles, and an unimportant temp named Donna Noble. And that is enough.
