K, so I just got the updated version of MSN or "Windows Live Messenger", because, after about a day and a half of noticing them, the pop-ups saying "new, New, NEW!!!!" finally got to me.
Overall, it's pretty much the same. On the plus side, I got back the ability to see contacts display pics inside the main messenger window, which I find very enjoyable as I hope people are actually able to see my icon which I sometimes spend some time figuring out which one to use.
Unfortunately, the natural color scheme is very dark, and I have no way of altering this. I hate having a very bright screen, and, whenever possible, envoy to make the background as dark as possible. Usually black or some shade of green. This quasi-pastel, just-a-hint-of-color deal just ain't doing it for me. Also, the conversation windows have the display pictures all weird. The huge white gap looks like it should be able to support the conversation text, but doesn't. It just sits there. Empty. And annoying. The display pics refuse to stay at the smaller size, so they take up a huge chunk of the window, which I have sized just right to make it easy to watch a video on youtube or something while carrying on a conversation.
