Whether or not River and the Doctor are going to be/have been married or not is irrelevant. I just found it so interesting how they both were so protective of Amy in those eps. They weren't worried for their own safety, because they both knew that together they had more to come (probably), but Amy was uncertain and scared, and it created an awesome family dynamic that really improved my feelings towards River.

I love Eight. I love the audios (even though I haven't heard them all yet), I love the movie, I love it all. He's tied for my favourite Doctor (although, that really isn't much of an achievement. I've barely got a tie for second-favourite!), and I luv him!
